Henschke Wine

Today, I just had the experience every wine-lover dreams of. Kerryn & Manoli Vezos are in Adelaide at the moment and they called to see if we could catch-up. Even though I have study to do (I always have study to do) we decided that a Barossa trip seemed like a good idea =) So because they are good friends with Emma Graetz and her parents run the show at Henschke wines that was our primary destination. And before I knew it we were given the VIP treatment at the Henschke winery, which (if you know your wine) is one of the finest producers in all of Australia. The Henschke label is best known for its "hill of grace" shiraz that sells for about $500 and sits at the top of good restaurant's wine lists. Anyhow... back to the VIP treatment. We were given a private tour of the whole operation and an explanation of how wine is made. I think I remember about half of what she told us and about half of what each of the machinery below does. I had an absolute ball and tried my best to soak it all in. I wish I brought a better camera with me - the only camera I had was my phone.

And, as if this was not enough, we got to taste their whole selection (except the top dog of course) and then point to the ones we like and Sue gave us the bottles for free!! I scored a bottle worth $37.50 for nothing and K&M took home two bottles that will definitely serve them well.

Life is good!! =) LG

How funny that I just learned more about my OWN SISTER'S weekend in SA from this blog post than I learned from her directly!

It sounds like you all had a wonderful time. :)
