Our First Wedding Present!

Today Anisia and I purchased our very first wedding present from my Aunt & Uncle - Leonie & Peter Wickham. They wanted us to get something we would find useful and provided the money for us to buy a Husqvarna sewing machine! For the last few weeks we have been researching what to buy and where to buy from and so today we finally purchased a machine that is going to serve us very well. I dedicate this post to Mums and especially my Mum and Anisia's Mum. My Mum for tirelessly doing alterations to my clothes as I was growing up and Anisia's Mum for teaching her daughter the skills of a fine sewer. We had hardly got the machine unpacked before Anisia had threaded the needle and was sowing her first piece of work. In about 15 minutes she had completed the hemming of my jeans that were oversized and then one more pair of jeans... and another! I was very proud of her and watched in admiration of this hidden skill I have never seen before (except in my own Mum). Anisia - you are truly my best helper and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you...

Family Night

This is a demonstration of one of our regular video chats with the Glover clan in Brisbane =) This is the new chapter of Thursday night "Family Night": a Glover family tradition. We love being a part of the family antics from afar, especially playing with Reuben and getting close-ups of Fraser. We also humour ourselves with the special effects found on ichat (distorted faces, etc). FUN!

Stargate forever...

Tonight we just finished watching Stargate: The Ark of Truth. It is hard to explain what a sentimental moment this is for me (and Anisia) as I used to watch many episodes of Stargate SG-1 with Dad and it is somewhat of a family hobby. Ark of Truth is the semi-final feature length movie that completes the whole story line after Season 10, which was the last season. It was so exciting that we had to stop the movie two or three times just to regather ourselves. What a movie! What a night...

The week that was...

This week has been a very big week: coming home from Sydney and realising my bike had been stolen, claiming said bike on insurance and all that entails and then writing 14 pages of a job application for the position I am currently working in. It was a massive week and one I couldn't have gotten through without Nathan's tireless efforts at keeping me fed by doing groceries and cooking meals while I sat at the computer. He even cleaned the unit in preparation for family night last night as well as making the dinner to feed everyone. He is a true blessing. I sometimes can't believe it.

SO, once dinner was served we cracked open a bottle of bubbly and celebrated both finishing the application and the birth of Faith (the bottle was a gift given to Rikki and Kristin as a congratulations for Faith's safe arrival). After the bubbly it was "Ticket to Ride" time: a new game we received from Rikki, Kristin, Josh, Simeon and Faith for our engagement/wedding. It is a strategy game with the aim of building railroad tracks across Germany: Nathan is very good at it and beat me that night. But I am ok with that. Here are some pics FYI:

State of Origin! Go Queenslander!!

While in Sydney for some work-related training, Ellice (work colleague) and I did some fun-related football viewing: at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park!! The game was incredibly exciting, and QLD won which topped the night off =)

Farewell Renee and Matthias =(

We went to China Town and had Chinese (banquet) to farewell Renee and Matthias as they prepare to embark on their trip to China (departing 01/08/08). They spent dome time in Adelaide and we were thankful to be able to catch up with them while they were here.

Henschke Wine

Today, I just had the experience every wine-lover dreams of. Kerryn & Manoli Vezos are in Adelaide at the moment and they called to see if we could catch-up. Even though I have study to do (I always have study to do) we decided that a Barossa trip seemed like a good idea =) So because they are good friends with Emma Graetz and her parents run the show at Henschke wines that was our primary destination. And before I knew it we were given the VIP treatment at the Henschke winery, which (if you know your wine) is one of the finest producers in all of Australia. The Henschke label is best known for its "hill of grace" shiraz that sells for about $500 and sits at the top of good restaurant's wine lists. Anyhow... back to the VIP treatment. We were given a private tour of the whole operation and an explanation of how wine is made. I think I remember about half of what she told us and about half of what each of the machinery below does. I had an absolute ball and tried my best to soak it all in. I wish I brought a better camera with me - the only camera I had was my phone.

And, as if this was not enough, we got to taste their whole selection (except the top dog of course) and then point to the ones we like and Sue gave us the bottles for free!! I scored a bottle worth $37.50 for nothing and K&M took home two bottles that will definitely serve them well.

Life is good!! =) LG
